Chris was born in Booneville, Missouri in 1970 and spent his childhood in Macks Creek, Missouri. He has always had a love for nature and spent most of his childhood exploring the Missouri outdoors. After graduating from Macks Creek H.S., he joined the US Army in search of adventure and found it in Alaska, were he lived three years.
Chris attended the University of Missouri, Columbia College, and Central Texas College with studies in English. Chris is primarily a self taught artist with the exception of workshops with Ken Backhaus and John Budicin. Chris continues to study and learn from nature and his painting experiences. He plans to further his professional training with future workshops taught by accomplished and master artists he admires.
Chris paints original works in both oil and pastel. He also paints residential and commercial murals. Chris is often found plein air painting in the midwest, or during his frequent travels to the Rocky Mountains, or elsewhere across the country. He prefers to paint on location were he completes both finished paintings and field studies that he uses as references for larger studio paintings.
With his wife and two children, Chris now lives in Holts Summit, Missouri were he has his studio and gallery.
